Used car inspections in Tampa
Found a used car you like? Before you hand over the money, we go over it where it's parked and send you a written report with photos of what we find.

What we look at
Engine, transmission, brakes, tires, steering, suspension and the underside. Fluids and leaks. A full computer scan, including whether codes were cleared right before the sale. A road test where the seller allows it.
Then you get a written report with photos, so you're not relying on memory or the seller's word.
Storm season is part of the history
Tampa cars live through hurricane seasons, and Helene pushed several feet of storm surge into parts of South Tampa in 2024. A flooded car can be cleaned up and sold on. We look for corrosion and electrical clues that don't add up, and we'd always pair our inspection with a vehicle history report.
Private sellers and dealers
We'll inspect in a driveway, an apartment lot or at a dealership. You don't need to be there. If a seller won't let an independent mechanic look, that tells you plenty.
Book online and it's $150
The inspection is $150 when you book online and $175 otherwise. It takes about 45 minutes on site, on any make.
Make-specific checks
- Truck or V8? We listen for lifter tick and look for cam timing codes.
- German car? We scan the modules a basic reader can't see and check the brake service data against the actual pads.
- CVT automatic, like many Nissans and Subarus? We pay close attention to how it drives and what the scan shows.

Questions
Pre-purchase inspection, answered
How much is a used car inspection?
$150 when you book online, $175 otherwise. About 45 minutes on site, plus a written report with photos.
Do I need to be there?
No. Send us the address and the seller's contact and we'll handle it, then send you the report.
Will you go to a dealership?
Yes, if the dealer allows it. A dealer that refuses an independent inspection is worth walking away from.
