Theta II engines
2011–2019 Sportages, Sorentos and Optimas with the 2.0- or 2.4-litre GDI engine were part of the Hyundai-Kia settlement: a knock sensor software update, plus lifetime coverage of short block repairs for original and later owners.
Warranty depends on who bought it first
Kia's 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty applies to the original purchaser and to certified pre-owned buyers. Bought privately? Check what's left before paying for engine or transmission work.

Is my Kia engine covered by the settlement?
If it's a 2011–2019 Sportage, Sorento or Optima with the 2.0 or 2.4 GDI, it may be. Kia can confirm by VIN.
Do you work on the Telluride?
Yes, for the work we do at the vehicle.
Will using you void my Kia warranty?
No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer or dealer can't deny your warranty coverage just because maintenance or repairs were done by an independent mechanic. Keep your receipts. Repairs the warranty itself pays for still go to the dealer.
