Jeeps, the way we work on them
Batteries, brakes, starters, alternators, diagnostics and pre-purchase inspections, at your place.
Jeeps have a few habits all their own, from the second battery on newer Wranglers to the famous wobble.
Jeep issues worth knowing
Death wobble
On solid-front-axle Jeeps like the Wrangler and Gladiator, death wobble is a violent shake through the steering after hitting a bump at speed. Something loose or worn in the front steering or suspension is behind it, often the track bar. Slow down safely when it happens, then have the front end checked.
Start-stop warning on newer Wranglers
Wranglers with auto start-stop carry a second, smaller battery for that system. When it weakens, the dash shows a start-stop warning and the feature stops working.
Oil filter housing on the 3.6 V6
The 3.6 Pentastar in Wranglers and Grand Cherokees uses a plastic oil filter housing that's a common source of oil and coolant leaks.
No-start on 2011–2013 Grand Cherokees
A TIPM fuel pump relay problem could cause a no-start on some 2011–2013 Grand Cherokees, and Chrysler recalled them. A recall check is part of our no-start diagnosis.
Brand guides, not a diagnosis. Two cars with the same symptom can have different faults, which is what testing is for.

Questions
Jeep owners ask
My Wrangler says "Service Stop/Start System". Is it the main battery?
Usually it's the small auxiliary battery that runs start-stop. We test both before replacing anything.
Can you sort out death wobble at my place?
We'll check the front end at your place, find what's loose or worn, and quote the repair.
Will using you void my Jeep warranty?
No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer or dealer can't deny your warranty coverage just because maintenance or repairs were done by an independent mechanic. Keep your receipts. Repairs the warranty itself pays for still go to the dealer.
