Head gaskets on the older 2.5
Subaru's 2.5-litre engines from about 1999 to 2011, in the Legacy, Outback, Forester and Impreza, are known for head gasket leaks: oil or coolant seeping externally, or overheating. Failures commonly show up between 120,000 and 150,000 miles.
CVT coverage on 2018 models
Subaru extended the CVT's powertrain warranty on many 2018 models, including the Outback, Forester, Crosstrek and Impreza, to 10 years or 100,000 miles. Worth knowing before you pay for a transmission repair.
