"Auxiliary battery malfunction"
A common message on the C-Class (W205), E-Class (W213), S-Class (W222), GLC (X253) and GLE (W167). The small auxiliary battery backs up systems like PRE-SAFE, ESP and the emergency call system. Often it's the battery itself, but we test what charges it first.
Electric parking brake service position
Most 2015-and-newer models have an electric parking brake. The rear calipers go into their service position before new pads go in, and get reset after.
Warnings everywhere after a weak battery
Low voltage can light up ESP, brake and other warnings together. We check the battery and charging before anything else.

Mercedes-Benz owners ask
What does "Auxiliary battery malfunction" mean?
The small backup battery, or whatever charges it, has failed a check. It backs up safety systems, so get it looked at soon.
Can you do rear brakes on a newer Mercedes?
Yes. The electric parking brake goes into its service position first and gets reset after.
Will using you void my Mercedes warranty?
No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer or dealer can't deny your warranty coverage just because maintenance or repairs were done by an independent mechanic. Keep your receipts. Repairs the warranty itself pays for still go to the dealer.
