Sierras, Yukons, Acadias and Terrains. GMC shares a lot of hardware with Chevrolet, so the known issues travel across the family, and so do the fixes.

Same family, same fixes
A Sierra and a Silverado share their engines, and an Acadia shares its V6 with the Traverse. When we diagnose a GMC, we already know what that engine family tends to do.

GMC issues worth knowing
Lifter failures on 2019–2021 Sierras and 2021 Yukons
GM's bulletin on bent pushrods and collapsed lifters covers the 5.3 and 6.2 V8 in 2019–2021 Sierras and 2021 Yukons. A misfire code between P0300 and P0308 is the usual first sign.
Oil use on the 2010 Terrain
The 2.4-litre in the 2010 Terrain was covered by a GM special program for oil consumption from piston ring wear. Worth knowing if you're buying one.
Timing chains on the Acadia's 3.6 V6
2007–2012 Acadias and 2010–2012 Terrains with the 3.6 V6 were part of GM's timing chain bulletins, flagged by codes like P0008 and P0017.
Brand guides, not a diagnosis. Two cars with the same symptom can have different faults, which is what testing is for.

Questions
GMC owners ask
Is a GMC repair priced differently from a Chevy?
No. Our published labor prices are the same on every make. Parts are quoted for your vehicle.
My Acadia shows P0008. What now?
It's a cam timing code, and on the 3.6 V6 it often points to the timing chain. A diagnostic confirms it before anyone quotes the big job.
Will using you void my GMC warranty?
No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer or dealer can't deny your warranty coverage just because maintenance or repairs were done by an independent mechanic. Keep your receipts. Repairs the warranty itself pays for still go to the dealer.
